| | Global rating : | | This onsen always appears on japanese TV as one of the best 10 in Japan, and you can be sure to find a lot of people there. If you want to reserve a room, make reservation 3-6 months prior to your trip. If you intend to bath only during a busy period (Golden Week for example), you will probably wait between 30 min and 1 hour just to be allowed to enter the bath. My advice would be to stay at least one night. I will probably go there again and stay, I'm sure I will give a better general quote for the bath at that time...
| Size : | | I cannot say that this onsen is small, but since it is usually packed, you better be sure not to be afraid of people.
| View : | | Situated in a valley next to a river. The ryokan is the only facility around (the other buildings from Nyuto Onsen are relatively far from this spot); I think it is really worth to go there in autumn or winter.
| Modesty : | | Separated changing room, but if it is crowded, people waiting to access to the baths are standing just next to you, which makes it a little akward to soak there.
| Area : | | Around this spa area there are many spots for people who like to camp. The nature is beautiful and you can observe many wild animals. During winter, the prefecture of Akita is very cold and a lot of snow falls there; that is the best time to enjoy a good bath. Don't miss the Tazawako area, the gateway to Nyuto Onsen.

Although it is a good onsen, it is definitively not worth the waiting time. In Nyuto onsen, you can find less crowded onsen with the same water quality.
