Ratings   (explanation of our rating system)

Global rating :
Although this ryokan is a little old, it offers for a very modest price a pleasant lodging and one of the best rotenburo we have seen so far! The ryokan is located close to the small (and quiet) road leading to the ski field, the baths being close to the river. There are some segregated inside baths, as well as a large, mixed rotenburo made of large stones. The rotenburo is open until 7pm, but the inside baths can be visited all night.

Size :
Quite a large rotenburo, with an irregular shape forming small coves.

View :
Surrounded by trees, close to a small river (which however can barely be seen from the bath).

Modesty :
With segregated changing rooms and inside bath, as well as different accesses to the rotenburo, this konyoku will please even the most shy persons...

Area :
The Yamada Onsen area is one of our preferred place to enjoy a short trip from Tokyo, especially in winter. Not only it is located just a couple of kilometers from the highway, but also is it rather isolated and therefore barely crowded. Two ski fields are found there, as well as three great mixed rotenburo, all of them ranking as some of the bests in Japan! In Summer, Manza can be easily reached, but the road is closed in winter - as are some of the onsen.

Comment

If you think that staying in a ryokan and enjoying a nice bath will cost you a lot... think again and stay at Taki no yu! For an extremely reasonable price of 8400 yens per person, you will be able to enjoy a nice dinner and great bathing.
