| | Global rating : | | This upscale hotel, located in the middle of Yamada Onsen town, offers an impressive rotenburo, located in a canyon formed by a river. Although the bath itself is quite small, it's incredible location make it worth a visit.
| Size : | | The size of the rotenburo is limited by its location - in a canyon!
| View : | | The view is really stunning. Not only a river can be seen a couple of meters below the bath, but also being so close to the walls of the canyon offers an incredible scenery. In winter, an iced waterfall is located on the opposite side of the canyon, just 10 meters from the bath. Sun rarely reached the bath.
| Modesty : | | The changing place opens directly toward the bath... Furthermore, people soaking in the rotenburo can be seen from the stairs leading to the ryokan.
| Area : | | The Yamada Onsen area is one of our preferred place to enjoy a short trip from Tokyo, especially in winter. Not only it is located just a couple of kilometers from the highway, but also is it rather isolated and therefore barely crowded. Two ski fields are found there, as well as three great mixed rotenburo, all of them ranking as some of the bests in Japan! In Summer, Manza can be easily reached, but the road is closed in winter - as are some of the onsen.
