| | Global rating : | | Goshiki no yu ryokan is located between the small town of Yamada Onsen and the ski resort, at about 30 minutes of the highway. This place is a real bargain - count on 9000 yens per night, including dinner, breakfast and the baths. And the baths - especially the outdoor konyoku - makes this place really worth visiting. The large rotenburo is located close to a river - but the river can hardly be seen when soaking in the bath. Large stones hide the ryokan.
| Size : | | Round-shaped bath with an average shape, easily accommodating at least 10 persons.
| View : | | View on the mountains and the small river located about 10 meters from the bath. No tree blocks the view from the bath, and in winter, the whole area is covered with snow, making it a really beautiful sight.
| Modesty : | | Different changing rooms are available for men and women. However, no towels are allowed in the bath! And almost everybody respect this rule...
| Area : | | The Yamada Onsen area is one of our preferred place to enjoy a short trip from Tokyo, especially in winter. Not only it is located just a couple of kilometers from the highway, but also is it rather isolated and therefore barely crowded. Two ski fields are found there, as well as three great mixed rotenburo, all of them ranking as some of the bests in Japan! In Summer, Manza can be easily reached, but the road is closed in winter - as are some of the onsen.
