Spring information | Water type : sulfur Main spring : 16°C pH=8.6
|
| | Global rating : | | Located in the vicinity of the Chichibu National Park, this ryokan offers segregated inside baths and one small mixed rotenburo (separated fees apply for those baths). The water is heated, as the source has only a temperature of 16 degrees. Readily accessible from Tokyo and Saitama-ken
| Size : | | The rotenburo is relatively small, although three couples can comfortably soak in it.
| View : | | Surrounding mountains and the river below the ryokan can be observed... with a huge electrical pole, as well as a road located on the other side of the valley. For this reason, a small wall - about 1.2 meters high - partially hide the view from the bath, prompting the bathers to stand up to enjoy the scenery.
| Modesty : | | Separated changing rooms offers some privacy. It seems that this place is visited mainly by couples, making it rather comfortable.
| Area : | | Chichibu National Park offers loads of activities, including hiking and visit of shrines. Nagatoro is a beautiful spot located on the river, less than 30 minutes by car from the ryokan.

We visited this onsen twice in 2004, the first time in February, the second in October. Between those two dates, the entrance price doubled, reaching a hefty 1500 yens - definitively too expensive! Also, while the spring water is supposed to have a pH of 8.6, the water of the bath only reached 7.4, which could suggest that the spring water is strongly diluted.
