Ratings   (explanation of our rating system)

Global rating :
This is the largest onsen in Kusatsu, located very close to the ski field. Women and men have two separate rotenburo, which are popular - and hence crowded. The temperature of the water can be quite high.

Size :
It will take you some time to call around this bath of large proportion.

View :
The baths are located in a wood, in a very pleasant surrounding. Unfortunately, the separation between the men's and the women's baths, a wooden wall, is very noticeable, making is a little less bucolic than we would have expected. The view is stunning in winter, when a lot of snow is present around the baths.

Area :
Kusatsu area attracts visitors all year round. In Summer, the Kusatsu-Shirane volcano is a must, with its extremely acid, emerald-green crater lake; visitors are not allowed to reach the shore of this lake, but are offered a breathtaking view on it. In winter, Kusatsu transform to a lively ski resort. People spend then their time between the ski fields and the onsen. In the middle of the town, the Yubatake is a natural system for cooling down the onsen water, which flows at 5000 liters per minute! In Kusatsu, some 20 free public baths, usually small, can be found.
