| | Global rating : | | A large and comfortable complex in Ebino Kogen, which might be the best place to stay and relax after a hiking day! The building is a mixture between a ryokan and a hotel, with nice tatami rooms (with or without bathroom and with or without a small living room, as function of the choose price) but the typical structure (lobby, large corridors) of a hotel. Ebino Kogen-so has an excellent onsen - including outside baths and private ones for families.
| Size : | | There are two inside baths together in the large bathing room, as well as a sauna and a cold pool. The outside section comprises two baths - which are smaller, good for 6-8 persons - as well as a large area between them where a "foot massage" path is located.
| View : | | Surrounded by walls on three sides, the view is rather limited; at night, however, the sky is in full view
| Area : | | Ebino-kogen Plateau is at the border between Miyazaki and Kagoshima Prefectures, in Kyushu. It belongs to the Kirishima-Yaku National Park, which was the first area designated as a national park in Japan. The highland is at an altitude of 1200-1300 meters above the sea level, while the Mt. Karakuni-dake - reaching 1700 meters - is the highest mountain south Kyushu. Ebino-kogen is a perfect starting point for hiking in the park, offering hikes to the top of the mountains or around volcanic lakes. If the weather is fine, you can have gorgeous views from the summit of the mountains. There are limited accomodations in Ebino-Kogen. Located more to the south, Kirishima Onsen is an alternative entrance to the national park - but from there, you will need a car or a bus to reach the hiking area. On the other hand, there are plenty of huge hotels and ryokan. Isolated Shinyu Onsen is also located in the area, but at a higher altitude.
