| | Global rating : | | Gero Onsen might be famous for its baths - it is officially one of the Japan's Three Famous Springs (日本三名泉) - this rotenburo, which is, to the best of our knowledge, the only konyoku, is not worth the trip!
| Size : | | One bath only, but a really large one.
| View : | | There is only one bath here, located close to the river. Said like that, it could be appealing, however, we need to mention that there are other things around: numerous hotels on both banks, and a large bridge crossing the river about 30 meters away from the bath!
| Modesty : | | No changing room, direct view from the hotels, the banks and the bridge... and not a single wall! Good luck.
| Area : | | Although perhaps one of the most famous onsen town in Japan, Gero has all possible problems associated with a fast, uncontrolled growing: traffic jam, huge concrete hotels, bars advertising their nude shows, many visitors and, in our opinion, not a lot to share... It seems to be also the city where you find the most Filipina in Japan. Thanks to the prostitution business. If you stay in the area, you definitively should head to Takayama, a beautiful town north of Gero...

The public bath in Gero, with a spring located next to the river, in the middle of the town | | The bath is absolutely next sheltered, and there are no changing room... not to mention that most of the rooms on the other shore of the river can look at the people bathing, too... | | | | | | |
