I am planning a trip to Yakushima in October. I wonder if anyone here has been there, and could make suggestion for :
- interesting 1-day hikes
- lodging recommendation

I plan to rent a car (we will be 4 persons traveling together), so we probably will be quite flexible on the location to stay at.

Any experience would probably help me a lot...

I just wondered if you finally went to Yakushima as you planned in this thread. 

How is Yakushima in October? Isn't the trip too long from Tokyo? What lenght of stay would you recommend for such a destination... ?
