Usually the luggage takes 3 days to Tokyo. It is pretty fast. Most of visitors send their stuff back like this, so it is really easy.

For the accomodation, not having a reservation is certainly a risk. I can't tell you if you will have to sleep on a beach at the end or not... ;)
