Reservation

It is now possible to reserve shinkansen seats from abroad, even if you intend to travel with the JR Pass. But only on the JR East lines, that is :

- Tohoku Shinkansen ("Hayate", "Max Yamabiko", "Yamabiko", "Max Nasuno" and "Nasuno")
- Akita Shinkansen ("Komachi")
- Yamagata Shinkansen ("Tsubasa")
- Joetsu Shinkansen ("Max Toki", "Toki", "Max Tanigawa" and "Tanigawa")
- Nagano Shinkansen ("Asama")

So for the moment, this is not available on the Tokaido, Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen (Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima).
