In May of 2009, we embarked on a four day trip of Hokkaido. The first night was spent in Hakodate then after breakfast, we bussed to the Village of Matsumae to view the cherry blossoms. The trip took about two hours, going through many coastal villages then inland to cut across a penisula to the coast Village of Matsumae.
We arrived in a little replica of a village and engaged in a hands on craft workshop. We made a cedar wood spatula then a pressed flower book mark. After this, we dressed in the yukata and armor and the women dressed in armament or kimono.
of course, a lot of picture taking took place.
After a "Hanami" lunch under the cherry blossom trees, we went on a stroll through the trail that went through the orchard of more than 250 various cherry blossom trees. There were red, pink, white, green and various shades of the combined colors. There was doubles and even some that appeared to be a full bouquet for a bride. Scatterred at the base of some of the trees were variouse of radiant tulips.
