I have a holiday booked for japan, during 28th July to the 13th August. I would like suggestions, for someone who has never been to Japan, on what would be a good all round intinerary to make the most of my time. I am staying with a friend who is working for the first half of my trip, so want to plan around this time being as busy as i can.
I would like to spilt my trip into two sections, 28th July- 7th August, travel around japan and visit Tokyo. I will be staying near Shinjuku, so train trips will be my main way to travel. I am also a musicain and play in band, so would love to see some music or go to any cool venues in Tokyo.
I am planning to go to Hiroshima and stay there one night and also would like to check out some of the beaches close to Tokyo, during my last week in Japan. Any suggestions?
This will be my first time in Japan, so all help is welcome.
many thanks.

There are tens and tens of beaches accessible from Tokyo. My favorites are in Izu, so if you have some time, I would recommend you to go there. |

That time of year in Tokyo and Japan in general is absurdly hot and humid. Almost impossible to walk around the city, so keep that in mind when planning your trip.
Hiroshima for a day is a good choice, though getting there is expensive. Usually people get a JR pass and travel to multiple cities. Although a JR pass just to travel to Hiroshima could prove to be cheaper than a regular one-time ticket.
As for Tokyo, there are endless options. Some things you shouldn't miss:
- Nightlife in Shibuya
- Harajuku fashion district
- Akihabara electronic city
- Odaiba futuristic city
- Imperial Palace Gardens
- A summer festival, preferably with fireworks
And of course - food, food, food! Check out my blog (see signature below) for ideas. |
