I will be visiting the Osaka area in the middle of October and am interested in visiting a konyoku. I do not seem to be able to find any mixed gender Onsens in that area. Are there any close to Osaka and if so, can anyone make a recommendation? I would prefer to visit a konyoku but if that is not possible a rotenburo will be fine also.

Unfortunately, there are very few mixed onsen in the Kansai area...

I have visited one so far, and it is an onsen that is built each winter within a river, in the south of Nara-ken - pretty far from Osaka anyway...

If you check this web site, www.pre-proj.net/database/30n-oosaka.html you will see that options are very limited there.
